Just follow the instructions and it will be fine. When you go to agitate the cape daily, Watch the fumes when you open your container. I love Krowtann!

I do not like KT. It has little to no stretch and the viscosity and fumes are to harsh. There are to many other tans out there that do a better job and you dont have to wear a respirator while working with them. JMO

I was talking to arlington cape tannery here in Ohio, and he brought up a few good points. Read what Krowtann has in it, several different acids, and that's it. There is not really any tanning agents in it. With all that acid, of course the green hide is going to turn white, but is it really tanned or is it just pickled? HUMMM. I have used Krowtann, I liked it but what about long term. Is it going to be like alum tans, where after so many years the hair will start falling out because it turns into sulfuric acid. Also pressure tanners. They say they tan in 4 hours, because they force the tan into the hide instead if it soaking in. How can a pressure tanner force the tan into the hide when the pressure is the same on both sides of the skin, pressure on one side counter-acts the pressure on the other side so nothing is being forced into the skin, all you have is a pressurized tub that turns like a tumbler. These are some things to think about!

Snapper have you found out any more information about KT being simply a pickle? I've been using it for the past year and now you got me worried about my mounts deteriorating over time. If you find anything out please let us know.

I used krowtan on the last dozen deer I tanned this year, and with thin fleshing on the rotary blade, I found I have better stretch then when I was using Lutan. I did not over tan and with it being a pickle only? I do not know ,maybe so but then pickle only was used for years in taxidermy with no ill effect, DP is also not a tan. I liked that it is easy, fast and it served my purpose. Next season I will play with EZ100 to see how that works out for me.
