Wasn't sure where to post this, but I thought this would be a good place to put it. I was wondering what you guys think is the best way to preserve a crayfish? Or is it better to order from a catalog? I have a few ideas but I'm not positive. Thanks Tony

I usually split it down the tail and remove all the meat and use some type of small tool to get all out of the body that I can then fill the cavity with cotton soaked in a liquid preservative, then place in position i want it and let it dry, after drying I usually coat underside with some type of glue to help keep legs in place and support them. Got 3 that are 8 years old now that were done that way and still look good.

Almost anytype of liquid preserver will work, I use Touchstone 4 in 1, but mostly because touchstone supply is local for me, but preservsit from Wasco and Van Dykes is also good. Just pick whatever they have at the supplier you use and it will work well. you can even use straight denatured alcohol if it is all you have, just have to wait a little longer for it to dry and smell go away.
