Nice...looks like the beetles are a lot better than boiling. I would like to start a small colony sometime.

i've been wanting to get a beetle colony, but i'm from arkansas and the heat and humidity here is a killer... i don't know much about beetles and don't have alot of time to research them, but i was thinking the humidity here might be too much for them.... any ideas?

well the summers in New York are hot the hotter they better the work, they like temp. around 85-90. The humidity not sure we almost had like 100% yesterday and they were still going good. I have 2 fish tanks one 10 gallon and one 20 gallon if you buy from www.dermestidbeetlecolonies.com/ they will send you a "care packet"

I was always curious as to where you keep the beetles....I'm thinking they've got to stink pretty bad....what with eating rotten flesh and all.

actual you are to cut of as much meat as possible then put in the sun or infront of a fan to dry the meat so thay turn to a jerky like meat then if you have a big enough colony they should strip the skull in 3-5 days ther fore no smell

What do you feed the colony when there are no skulls to clean? And how do you keep them warm in the winter?
