hello! well, i saw this area of the forum and thought i might just tell everyone the story of my baby bear rug, affectionantly named 'Mooky'. I came across this baby cinnamon phase black bear rug while sifting through the backroom of a camp we visit each summer in northern ontario. i borrowed him for a year from the owner of the camp. when the owner of this camp passed away a few years later, his wife and son let me go into the back room and see if the baby bear was still there. they'd told me they'd thought he'd been eaten up by mice and that his hide was beyond saving even if he was there. Determined to find him, i looked and looked. i discovered him draped across an old green couch, his fur still displaying his prominent reddish-brown coat in the late afternoon sunlight that was streaming in through the window. dust fluttered in the air as it was stirred from the fur as i gently lifted him up into my arms and carried him out of the backroom out to the front desk, dodging several mounts in the process. after asking and discussing prices for several miniuts, i walked out of the lodge with a baby bear rug for $20 Canadian. his fur was turn to shreds, his back was falling off. The red felt that had probably once graced his sides was just a few large chunks of it. Mooky then made the 745 mile, 12 hour drive back home without a problem. He sat in my basement for several years up until this fall, when i was talking to one of my good friends online, Lee. I brought up mooky and asked if she could do a refurb on him. describing how badly he had deterriorated away at this point was a hard thing to do. so i did the next best thing- i took pictures of the cub. this is what Lee saw:
i asked her about refurbishing Mooky to his original, beautiful self, and she agreed to take on the task. at this time my little bear cub is with her in Colorado, i'll be sure to post up some 'after' pics of him for you all to see!
