In Illinois we can shoot bearded hen, Couldn't pass on this one. I never seen one in the wild before. I know they are not that rare but I have another tag for 5th season and will look for a gobbler then. The hen had an 8" beard!!! I am looking forward to mounting the hen standing with a strutting tom next to her. They will be my first turkeys to mount. Skinning went pretty good though and I was able to get it done with only a couple of small holes. I used a muzzleloading shotgun and at 37 yards it even broke one of her rear legs on impact.

Knight TK 2000. It shoots better than my 835 Ulti Mag. I use 100 grains of 777 and 2 1/2 ounces of #6 Red hot lead.

I saw your gun in your posts, You think they would make some kind of recoil reduction built in to that kind of stock. Try the Kick Eze recoil pad on it. I put one on me slug gun and it helped a lot!

Hay whitetail8, if you want to try mounting one of those pheasants you talked about before you finish the turkey, we could set a day for next week and I could work next to you in my shop. I am out of stock on pheasant bodies, so we will have to order some. I do have a couple of heads in stock. If you are interested give me a call so we can order some stock.

For those who don't or didn't know thats a word complimenting his black bowder shotgun. mideval blunderbuss were some of most feared and most effective weapons of the time : )
