Hey guys. I decided it's time to get a new air brush. My old one is a Paasche VL double action. I like it but it was used and a bit abused when I got it. I guess You can say I want a new airbrush rather then need a new one. I was thinking I would keep my old one for a back up. The new one I was thinking about getting is a Iwata Eclipse HP-BCS. I have heard people say good things about the Iwata brand and I believe JW said he had one and it was the best of his 3 air brushes. I guess my question is what are the pluses of the Iwata over the paasche. Is it just preference or is there a difference in how it sprays? Any comments about either would be great because I am planning on getting one next Tues. Oh yeah this will be used for all around painting. Thanks Tony

The main difference I see between the pasche VL and the Iwata is that they are both basically the same working wise but I can get better detail out of the Iwata which means a lot when painting fish. Dont get me wrong though cause like I said earlier I do use 3 different brushes, Pasche H1 (single acction) mostly in places where you need repeated actions like spotting on some fish, I use the pasche VL mostly for applying the basic colors on all my fish because it is easy to blend colors with this one and the Iwata to do more fine detail work such as very small lines or highlighting spots on fish like trout and such. So all three of these are good but my suggestion would be to get the Iwata especially if you allready have a pasche, you can always get you a new needle and needle cap and rebuild your pasche into an almost new one for a backup. All this is just my personal opinion and I know there will be a lot of differences from everyone else but these are what I like after using several others over the years.

Well I got my new airbrush. I haven't got to play with it yet but it sure looks good in the box. ;D I didn't get the one that I wanted. I would have had to order it and I was dead set on going home with one. I got the Iwata Revolution BCR air brush. Not only did I get this brush because it was in stock. I got it because the book said that it was rated excellent for taxidermy, and I saved about $100 dollars. I guess its aimed more toward beginners. It still has the 5 year warranty, and get this one tip and one needle does it all how great is that. Well when I get a chance two play with it I will let you all know what I think. Tony

Well I got to use my new airbrush today, and it worked great. The trigger had great response and everything worked like it should. The cleanup was very easy, and my Paasche bottles worked in it. I did buy the braided hose for it which I am very glad I did because the hose that came with it was very stiff.

I think you will really like the iwata after you use it a little.
