I'm just not sure what to do. I'm doing a skin mount on this 29 incher and at least 60% of the scales have come off while fleshing it. I just did two bass and no problems. Any ideas out there on a good fix or should i just buy a repo and eat the cost. Thanks for any help... Ken

Even when you slip a landing net under them the scales start flying. If it was me I would completely scale this fish. After you mount it set it up in front of a fan with the air blowing AGAINST the scale sockets. (Tale to Head) This will lift up the sockets a little and make it appear more like there are scales there. Additionally the scales are so thin if you paint and scale tip your customer won't know the difference. That is if you paint it right. Normally I don't tell people to scale trout or salmon but sometimes there is nothing else you can do with these chrome nightmares. I have actually gotten away with not losing any scales or only a few on chromish fish by heavily salting the show side for about 20 minutes before skinning. Also skin it when it is semi frozen.
