What kind , if any, retirement plan do some of you have. I am only parttime and have benn paying into an IRA since beginning taxidermy 16 years ago. I retired from my regular job as a licensed Land Surveyor a little over 3 years ago and sold my business and with the selling of that business and the retirement that was set up in it I do not have to work at all but just love doing some taxidermy so will keep at it a few more years as part time only. Was told recently that if I keep paying into this IRA till I am 58 years old at the same rate I am paying now that when I reach 59 1/2 years old I will be able to draw a max of $529 per month on it which will be a pretty good suppliment to my other retirement. So what do some of yall have?

you may not be at retirement age yet but it is never too late to start planning and paying into some type of retirement plan, I was lucky enough to have my Dad guide me through beginning a plan as soon as I got out of college and sticking with it through the years and got to retire, from my regular job as a Land Surveyor, at 53 years old and now all I do is parttime taxidermy mostly as a hobby and fish and hunt all I want to. I have friends that are older who did not plan early and are still haveing to work full time while I sit back and enjoy the benefits of retirement.

I can retire from my fulltime job when I'm 50. I'll have my retirement from there plus I have something extra that I started on my own about 8 years ago.

Well, I'm among the "elders" of the forum and I am retired...33 years at the same full time job. I have had a TSA for at least 20 years and could have started drawing on it way back when I was 55(LOL). It remains untouched. I am applying for SS this year. My pension pays the bills and the taxidermy money pays for old boy's toys and GAS(LOL). I consider myself to be very fortunate to be in the financial situation I am in.

sounds like very good planning in the early years mrs, That is kind of what I did and am very glad my dad convinced me to do it, now I am retired with a very good income as it is from my retirement and a very good savings due to selling my surveying business plus an IRA thatI will begin drawing another $529 per month in 4 1/2 years. So I truly believe in early planning and sticking to it, it sure makes for a lot easier life in the golden years.
