Looking for 2 or 3 wipers in the 22" to 25" size fresh or frozen..... thank you Dan Just remember Dan it's illegal in all the states I know of to buy fish caught out of public waters with a few exceptions. (In case you didn't know that) Most likely you could get away with paying for them but I wouldn't make it obvious on the Internet (which you haven't done.) Just some advise for those that don't know as buying and selling fish is not the same as antlers and furs. Maybe trade something for them, have them gifted, or something else creative (which is what you are doing?) I see people buying and selling public caught fish all the time on the taxidermynet, but it doesn't make it legal. I think there is at least one person on the taxinet that works for U.S. Fish and Wildlife. Not sure if he watches the transactions or not. It would be easy to set somone up though. And yes I do have an ulterior motive here although it may not be what you think. My concern is if enough of those people break the law on public caught fish the states will make the sales of fish for taxidermy illegal all together even from private farms. Some already have.

Thanks Cecil I am sure you're only trying to help. and yes we know you also sell and raise your own fish, but I listed this message to try and find some fish, hoping maybe someone in the know may have one or maybe a suggestion as to where to look. As knowlegable as you seem to be, I was hoping for more info on where to look, or whom to contact, thanks again, Dan

I think Cecil was just giving a heads up and trying to help you out. Your going to have trouble finding a hatchery raised Wiper that size, and your only other option is getting a gifted fish. If you are in the midwest I would check someone in the chigago area and see if they are getting them yet out of the coolng lakes.
I would honestly check a fishing forum. (Lake Link) is a good one for midwesterners.
Make a post in the forum or look for a report on Wipers and send a PM to a person who fishes them alot. I have gotten many fish I have been looking for that way.
The fines for this are VERY hefty and Id hate to see anyone getting nabbed for selling wild caught fish, because it will hurt us all.

If a wiper is the same as a white bass they will be running in the wolf in two weeks 22-25 is pretty big though.

I was in the process of getting the contact info of three potential sources of fish that size to post until I read your response. Ain't gonna happen now.
