Great work Nina, I like liners myself for the same reasons. I like the roman nose look on the deer also. The only thing I see is the armpit hair seems to be outside the pits a little. Who makes that form?

Thanks, That is a Ben Mears form. McKenzie carries that line, It was my first time using this form and I like it a lot. I agree, the roman nose adds a nice touch. I always align the arm pits that way, according to this pic I think they are close. It must be the pictures.

looks good nina. the only thing i see,is that the deers right ear may be angled down towards the ground just a lil too much. but it could be the angle of the pic. either way,NICE WORK! u havent been on much lately. stayin busy?

Pretty good looking deer. The only thing is see is it looks like you airbrushed the black around the ears a little too dark. I'm not sure what color you used, but i've been using dark brown and it looks great. Also on the ears i'll have to look again, but i dont thhink the black line goes all the way around the ears. I like the mount a lot how many have you done?

thanks everyone. tyler, i never airbrush the hair around the ears, that is the deer's color and every one is different. some have little or no black trim, and others have a dark rim around their ears like this buck. i lost count of how many deer i've mounted, but i'll guess at least 50.

Hmm thats interesting i live in Illinois and most the deer lose that color on their ears so i airbrush it back in. Where are you located? Do you mount any other animale or have you entered any competitions. Your doing great work keep it up!

I am in southwest PA. I only really work with deer, but will be doing some small mammal mounts soon. I have been entering in my state's competition for three years so far. This year was my first year in Professional division and it was tough.

Yeah competition is a completely different division of taxidermists. Everything has to be so precise its frustrating at times. Well keep up the work it looks great!

Hmm thats interesting i live in Illinois and most the deer lose that color on their ears so i airbrush it back in. Lose the color? What do you mean? I get some that have no dark around the edges and I get some that have lot's of dark. Personally, I like the dark edges, but if they don't come in with it, they don't leave with it. Nice mount Nina. It does look like the armpits might be outside a tad. Could be the pic angle. I try to line mine up right down the middle of the leg. BUT on some deer it is farther outside, just like the brisket pattern - some are halfway up the neck instead of lower on the "brisket" area, just depends on the deer, I suppose.

Most people that come in for me say they like the black around the ears and ask me to put it on. So i bring the color back in. I agree i really like the dark edges. What kind of animals does everyone mount here?
