How many on here belong to their local associations or other associations and do you go to and compete in these shows?
I am a member of the Louisiana and Oklahoma association and am joining the Texas association again this year (was a member in the past but let it slip) and an NTA member. I do compete in the LA and OK shows each year, this year am also going to Texas and possibly the NTA show.

I have been a member of my state taxidermist association for many years. I attend the show/competition every year. I enjoy the fellowship of many friends I've made there, I buy supplies there(Save on shipping), and always attend a few seminars to learn something new and perhaps better. I do not compete but I always puppy-dog the judge as he critiques entries with the competitors. I pick up interesting information that way.

I used to hold every office from board member up to president of my state association. Went every year and of course competed. I would recommend going to shows to everybody. I learned a lot competing and think it's the best way to get better not only in competition work but your customer work.
That said I haven't gone to a show in a few years. Seem to have lost interest in going. After doing taxidermy for a quarter of a century that can happen. I'd like to get back into competing again though. Lots of fun and a I love the challenge.
