Love the steelhead but something's missing on the brown.

I liked the body on the steelhead, but didn't like the head. The colors just seem too hard. The brown, I didn't like the position of the pectoral fin, tried some new stuff on it. Attached is a picture of the real fish and another of the mount. Maybe that will help you figure out what you don't like. Take care.

It looks like it would be hard to paint, and to me, it looks like you did a great job.

Thanks for the compliament bud, I tried alot of new things with this trout. This is actually my first skin mount brown trout, I've done some reproductions before though. Just trying to develop my technique before I work on the footballs I got from Cecil. Some things I'm happy with and other things I will never try again. Some of new things I tried on this fish. Where like removing the fins before skinning and trying them separately. The are easier to card that way. I tried using powders to create my halos, but the halos disappeared after gloss. So I ended up painting them, I haven't given up on the powders though, I just need to find the right one. An idea borrowed from Rick Krane. I highlighted the scales before painting, a technique I learned from Gary Bruch. This is also my first carved body using ideas from Mike Ross. I usually cast my own bodies. All in all it was a great learning experience.
