McKenzie had discontinued Sobo glue and locations that have it in my area are far and few between. And with shipping being a killer with UPS not ashamed to raise their rates at ridiculous levels with fuel costs as an excuse, I'm looking for more and more products I can use that are locally available.
I'm finding as long as I seal the fins with a lacquer sealer ( I get my aerosol lacquer thinner at the local Ace (China) hardware store) I don't have too much a problem with warping. Not as flexible as Sobo, but once I put my automotive clear coat on flexibility is a moot issue.
Anyone else try it?

It's too bad that some good products either get discontinued or the formula changes when the company is sold. I still have a few bottles of Sobo glue and when they're gone I'll try the Elmer's glue. I often wondered what (IF ANY) difference there is between Sobo glue, Elmer's glue, and Modge Podge. They are all about the same consistency, go on white, and dry clear.

Well it does dry clear but you can't put in on too heavy. I've occasionally had a white residue left but it's no big deal to paint over.

Is Elmers glue better than Modge Podge? I switched to Modge Podge about a year ago and haven't had any trouble at all with it so far. I use silkspan as a backing and the fins seem to be pretty flexible. I have had breakage after glossing with Triple Thick, but that was due to my own clumsiness. George

Modge Podge is thicker, I use it on my deer heads with less shrinkage than elmers glue.

George I don't know if it's better but it does the job. And like I said my automotive clear coat dries so stiff flexibility is moot point.

Always used Modge Podge, actually I wouldn't be suprised if they are the same thing.
