I just tanned a cape using lutanF.. After taking it out I was looking at the lips and relizes I did not ahve them split all the way.
I rewatched the video on how to do a fngured out what I did wrong and went back and did it.
Will this cape be ok? I have the cape oiled and getting ready to hang it up to dry..

It should be ok.....but you should just oil and leave wet tanned, freeze until ready to mount. Dry tans need rehydrated and the skin just never seems to be the same after that. its hard to explain

Nina is absolutely right onthis one,I have forgotten to split lips even forgot to open ears a time or two and everything worked out really well and leaving it wet and freeze will be better than drying, but drying is ok but like NIna said a dry tanned cape just does not feel the same.

Sure, that's what I do....Just double bag it to prevent freezer burn and put it in

Cool... I thought it had to dry. So then wear does breaking a skin come in? or is that for like wall hanging skins?

Yeah you don't need to break a skin unless it's for a rug or wall hanging.

I let my capes sit 4 - 6 hours or sometimes over night before freezing so the oil gets soaked up nice. I Prefer not to dry them too.
Your lip mistake will be fine as the others have mentioned.
