It might help if we knew what you are trying to degrease.

I am not a real big fan of commercial degreasers. I pressure tan so the beaver I have done get rough fleshed, 1 hour of pressure tan, final flesh, and 4 hours of pressure tan, then a dawn bath, and either mount or freeze. I have a friend that is a strong believer in mineral spirits. You will hear a lot of pros & cons on mineral spirits. I use it on almost all my birds, my buddy washes everything in it. I know it helps break down the fat, look at your hands after you put them in it, all the oil is off them. My buddy swears it helps soften the hair. A simple 15 minute soak after tanning, and it is a lot cheaper than the commercial junk.

Hey riverrat I was going to try and use mineral spirts on a duck. I was going to do all my fleshing wash in dawn then soak in mineral spirts. Does this sound about right. and does the 15 min soak work for that also. What are the pros and cons that you were talking about? Any info would be great. Thanks Tony.
