Rinhart's form with pre-set eyes is a good idea. setting the eyes is probably the hardest thing to get use to. Van Dyke forms are ok I use them if I want a simple form. Every suplier has a measurement chart in their book saying what their abc measurement is. a is usally always eye to nose but b and c can differ from one supplier to the next. some even want the measurement from the back of the head to the nose. check the suppliers book for their measurement chart

not real clear on your situation, you need to order your form by the size of the hide,on the flesh side.

ok deerslayer, your on the right track. yes that is what is meant by a meat measurement, thats how i order all my forms, I measure the neck right behind the skull after skinning. now since you lose some of your flesh and whatnot from skinning you can play with the measurement a LITTLE bit. your saying your getting a 6 1/2 eye to nose and a 15 behind the ear measurement now correct? that sounds a little closer to the normal size deer I get around here. I would go with a 15 to 15 1/2 neck measurement no bigger. you actually have a little more room with the eye to nose measurement than the neck measurement in my opinion. with a 6 1/2 eye to nose i would confidently mount on a 6 1/4 to 6 3/4 mannikin. i hope this helps some. if your still confused feel free to call me. but i would rather you email me for the number. bowserwildlifecreations@alltel.net. good luck and keep asking questions thats how you learn
