Got bored so I did this, the cool part is, I built up around the skull plate with nothing but bondo and clay....so i didn't have to buy a $7 antler plate form lol. I got this set of summer antlers three years ago from my old boyfriend.

Hey Nina what did you use on those antlers. Did you tan them or inject a preservative. I just got a velvet whitetail to do. It was hit buy a car but I think I can make it into a really nice shoulder mount. It's just sitting in my freezer waiting for me to figure out which is the best way to get it done. I have some pics and when I get them on my computer I will post some pics. Thanks for the help Oh and if anyone else has any pointers I would appreciate it. Thanks again.

I used Preservz-It by Rittel's. The good thing about that is that it can be diluted with water so you'll have a lot by just buying the quart bottle. I injected it into the antlers to pump out all the blood. (It will ooze out at the bases when you inject the fluid) Then after most of the blood was gone, I made a solution of the Preservs-It and soaked the antlers in it for several days. (There are instructions for the solution on the old taxi.net forum archives) Then you take them out and let them dry. If the antlers get mold on them, just wash the area with Dawn soap and dry with a hair dryer. Mine did and that worked.
