How many people put in nictating(sp?) membranes in their commercial work and what procedures do they use if they do?

I usually just use a small ball of epoxy sculpt to shape the membrane back in and paint, to me its a lot easier than using the commercial ones you buy, most other taxidermists around here do not replace the membrane at all.

I didn't think much about them, then at the show this year every mammal that did not have the membrane in got dinged. Commercial mounts I still question, but show mounts you better have them. And like jw said it is not that hard and does not take that long.

I tried a few of the plastic ones years back. They are one of those things that have value in competition (I don't compete.) but that very, very few customers know exist. I no longer put them in.

I build them with apoxie sculpt during finishing on every one.

Very Good Question! Sorry to say, I do not build the windshield whipper for the eyes of most of the mammal world back into my mounts but tomorrow, I will start to including the nictitating gland on my commercial mounts.
