Have you seen your business slack off in the last two years, year, few months, or not at all? I am speaking as a specialist in fish and I believe specialists will see this first.
I wondering if the economy and or gas prices are having an effect on your business. Just curious. Don't have a cow like somone did on the taxinet when I asked this question assuming I had poltiical motives. ;D
And if you don't mind tell us what part of the country you are in.

I only do fish taxidermy and have only been doing it for a little over a year so I can't say if business has droped off or not but I can say that it is very slow.I have only done 10 fish in the last year.It doesn't help that I can't advertise very much on the account of money issues.

So far my business has not slacked off any at all, but I am cutting back some myself so I can have more time to do what I want like fishing and hunting or just goofing off, not going to quit all together but am cutting backto like maybe only working 2 days a week or something like that.

I have seen the same thing and even asked a question similar to this about a year ago. In general my traditional taxidermy has taken a hit. But the pet preservation end is still growing. Today in the freezer I have 3 cats waiting for their turn in the Freeze Dryer, I got another call for 1 last night but until it is in my freezer I don't count it and an email about a German Shepard today. Pets are not for everyone but are about 85% of my business now.

I havent seen the cut myself, but I also havent been in business as long as you Cecil. Ive been in business full time two years and 2 part before that and am still building. I also do everything not just fish. I will trim some things I dont like down the road if I have to but for now I do everything.

Well I think a specialist will notice long before the guy that does everything. I must say though I have picked up more than usual this winter which surprises me.

I just cant imagine it being much fun. I guess if you had a hut like they do on Grumpy old men and a tv or radio and a heater t might not be to bad. I like to fish ina boat myself. ;D
