This is my favorite pheasant out of the few I've done. A friend of mine let me mount this bird for him, for free (no license yet urgh). Anatomy isn't great and I could have done a lot better, this one was done a while ago.

Hi Nina, I know we are putting our birds in an unnatural position so we can display them in all their glory, but your head is a little to high on this bird. and all tails are going to hang down due to gravity, but I found that if you position them a slight bit high while they are drying and I clip a string to the end of the tail during this time period it helps the position later. I have some birds on the wall when I find pictures of them ma-by you will see a little of what I am trying to explain.

I do a lot of pheasants here. Most are your regular ringneck but last summer I did a habitat with two like the one above (we call them black pheasants) for a hunt club. One was flying the other was one the ground. I don't get a lot of them but they sure look good when the light hits them just right . I'll have to see if I took a pic of them. One thing I like to do is fan the tail out. The customers seem to love them that way. looks good though the more you do the better you get.

Great looking bird Nina but I do agree with reverrat about the position of the head and tail, but aslso I did mount a ringneck a few years badk in almost the same position, did it that way because the customer ( a friend of mine) was right there while psoitioning it and that is what he wanted so that is what he got, but if customer does not specifically tell you that then use a little more reference and try to get just a little more natural position. Nice work though.
