I was wondering how the competition works? Do you bring in your own hide and antlers to be mounted? Plus is it just one day or how does that work? Please let me know if you can help me out. I really want to enter it this year.

I am not 100% on how they are judged but I believe that you only compete against other youths. It is a great way to find out what some of the top people in the business think of your work. DO NOT ever enter looking for the ribbons, it is a great learning experience, the ribbons are secondary. After it is all over the judge will go through your piece and tell you step by step what you need to work on for improvement. You need to bring a completed piece to be judged, These are your show pieces do not cut any corners, some people will spend a hundred hours on a deer head. The show in Illinois is 3 days, you mount has to be entered by 10am. on Friday it will be judged all day and night Friday, then the rooms are open for viewing. You can pick up your mount after 3pm on Sunday. Friday their will be a seminar during the day and an auction at night, Saturday their will be several seminars and a banquet that night, Sunday are some more seminars and break down. The seminars are free to ITA members and you can pick and choose the ones you are interested in. We do not stay at the show site their is a motel across the street that is about $25 a night cheaper. I will be their and the easiest way to find me is on the auction floor, I am the one that keeps the auctioneer in line.

Pete Sweitzer is the president of the ITA., his email is petwscj5@hotmail.com The ITA does have a website ita.com ? You have to have your piece entered at the show site by 10am on the Friday of the show and can not pick it up till after 3pm on Sunday.
