I usually just clean fish with clear water if possible, be very careful if you use windex on fish it can sure streak the paint on them, if animals are really dusty and dirty but are otherwise in good condition with no slippage or anything, i usually just take them outside and use the water hose and some mild shampoo on them and rince well and let dry, then you can get some afro sheen and spray a little on and let it set for about an hour then brush.

Their is a product on the market called Cowboy Magic, I find it at Farm and Fleet for around $6, About a year ago someone in the taxidermy world found out a lot of us were using this and put their own label on the bottle, so now we have Taxidermy Magic for around $10. Spray your mount and wipe it down, I found it great for removing smoke stains. Watch your painted areas, If a water color was used it may streak.

I had a customer tell me that he sprays his mounts with hairspray especially his birds. I've never tried it but he says it keeps the dust off. Anyone else try it?

Hair spray will attract dust just like a magnet, I tried it once but never again.
