I got lucky once. I found 3 sheds in one hour, all within 100 yds. from each other. I think it was in March a couple of years ago in Wisconsin. I also found a shed in late summer and it wasnt chewed up much by whatever knaws on them. One more I found was when I had a farmer disc a portion of an old apple orchard. I am going to try to find some in a forrest preserve here in Chicago. There is one on Cumberland and Irving where Ive seen large herds of deer about this time of year. I dont know if anyone around here goes looking.

I went out to the forrest preserve yesterday looking for sheds. The deer are very tame and you can almost get close enough to pet them. I saw alot of does, but I also saw 2 bucks. 1 was missing an antler, and the other had both. I didnt have any luck finding sheds, but I found 40 golf balls. I dont golf, but I thought my wife would think that I didnt completely waste my time. I also found turtle. How can I clean it out? Thanks

best bet would be to macerate..im not sure but i think boiling might make it brittle....also,you probably know this already but,the shell is covered with plates, thats what gives the turtle its pattern,or color.some or all of those plates may come off,but its no problem, just glue em back on and give it a a spray of clear coat enamel.

I dont know what macerate means. Can you tell me how to do it? Thanks

basically, submerge it in water for anywhere from 2-4 months, shouldnt take long on a turtle though.change about 1/2 the water every 2 weeks, and if theres any way you can,try not to let it get too cold, but dont take it in the house cuz its gonna STINK. a small aqarium heater is an option though. after its macerated, take it out, clean it off,and soak it in dawn soap and water.

One thing I didnt mention about my shed hunting yesterday was that there was a lot of garbage thrown into the woods. I saw a lot of cans and bottles. When I go fishing I bring along a garbage bag and take out more trash then I went in with. Why do these people do this. Even if it is in Chicago, or anywhere else, why are they doing this?
