We have better than 70 members and guest visit a day and we are lucky to generate 10 post in a 24 hour period. I am always looking for ideas as to how to help make our forum more inviting to and active. ANY IDEAS?

How about a tutorial section added to this site.

other than the tutorial section mentioned above, I have no idea how to generate more participation, but the tutorial is a very good idea, just please do not let us get a current events section that has all the crap and nonsense that they do on another site.

Not sure that is the problem. When one does a Internet Search for TaxidermyTalk one gets The Taxidermynet or some other website. I have a hard time telling people where to go because Taxidermytalk does not get you here.

Thanks for the ideas and keep them coming. I am not hear to make excuses but let me try to explain some of our problems. First when this forum was set up it was set up on a free web host (proboards104.com) and when Nina set it up, she set it up as outdoorsdreams her business name. So we are outdoordream.proboards104.com I do not think that can be changed to Taxi Talk with out loosing everything we have already accomplished. Second because we are using proboards104.com I do not think we can have a special place for our vendors other than an open post. proboards104 is linked to Googel and that is why you see the adds at the top of every page you go to. I can as well as any member can silicate vender's to cut us a deal and adverse in our open forum . I do have a vendor I will be posting in another post that is willing to work with our members. As for posting pictures photo bucket seams to be getting better and a while back another photo site was introduced, if the member that brought that site to us could up date this We all would appreciate it. Now for the tutorial let me get with Brian to see what ideas he has and we can go from their. Believe me I am no computer wiz, but we have enough members that can help me make this site work for us, keep the ideas coming, we can all help to bust our forum.

I personally don't think posting pictures on here is that difficult. It's the same as taxinet and in fact seems to work more smoothly here for me.
Once you get the hang of photobucket it's quite easy.
Just my opinion and you know what they say about opinions.
As far as not being able to find taxidermytalk not coming up on Google etc. I think that will always hinder this site.

I agree with Cecil and think it would be a very good thing to be able to find us by using a search engine such as google or whatever, would sure give the general public more access to us.

I agree with the search engine idea, but the only way I know of doing that would be to start a new forum. Like I said I do not know that much about the computer any and all help would be appreciated.

I guess we need to find us a computer geek! If the only obstical is funds, if we do find we can do it, I am willing to chip in as I think it's very important to have a civilized option to the taxinet. That is unless Ken gets serious about attacking the biker bar mentality on his site.

I know some forum and web stuff, and I have a business account through yahoo - I can get a new domain name for $10/yr. I know more about vBulletin forums than proboards, and those run $85/yr for the lease, or $160 per year to buy it outright. I know with my personal (old) website, if I type in my "name" its the first thing that comes up on a search through google. There would be no/minimal ads. www.taxidermytalk.com is an available domain. This is what a vBulletin forum looks like: www.vbulletin.com/forum/ My best friend is a super-geek, and would probably have no problem helping me out for tech stuff, especially if I make her dinner a few times. I don't know if we can archive all what is on here now, other than doing like taxinet did before - make a link to the "old" forums, and try to make sure this board stays put (ask Nina). I have a couple other tech geeks I can talk to, on another forum, to see if they could figure out how to move data like that. I'm really not sure though, if it can be moved to a new site, other than copy paste fun. My $0.02 Jen

I dropped Jen a PM and asked her if she could get us as much information as she could. I appreciate Cecil's offer and was wondering how many of our members would be willing to help if we decided to go this way. I don't know and maybe Jen can help us find out if we can sell advertisement, another option would be to have a taxidermy supply vendor under-wright the forum as Wasco does the net. I will try to make some calls today. As always we need the input of our members it is time to speak out let me know how you feel about this.

I was able to talk to Jen on the phone today about getting or moving to a more friendly location as well as securing the www.taxidermytalk.com name. She is going to get the name secured and search other forums for us. As always I am not going to change anything with out the members input. We are at the point that we are going to have to start generating some funds. Not major funds and possibly only one time funds, Jen is checking this out for us. Food for thought. I have 60 Duck Unlimited knifes that I have $8.00 invested in. If our members want I can sell these for $20.00 each with $10.00 going for the knife and shipping and $10.00 going in to a fund to develop a new web site. Another Idea would be to buy 50 knifes with www.taxidermytalk.com etched on the knife and be able to sell them for the same figures. To do this I will need some type of a commitment before I can order them. As usually you input is needed.
