A few days ago I bought a can of lacquer thinner. Yesterday when I needed it I couldn't find it. I figured I must have left it in the wife's car as I used her vehicle when I made a run to the hardware store to get some. Anyway turns out it wasn't there either and I bought another can before she came home.
So where do I find the can? I come upstairs to relax on the computer for the evening and there's the %$#@! can right next to my computer! WTF!

Hiya Cecil!! Yes, that is Dakota, we lost him 2 years ago to a nasty infection and a tumor at age 7. I currently have another pup with and Enlarged Heart that will probably die of the same thing yours did, but he is only 5.
Akitas are amazing dogs, but VERY single family for the most part unless socialized A LOT. If you don't want her to get after strangers better start with her now! lol
CRS?? Yeah I got that to... at least I think I do....wait, I can't remember!

Yeah I got that to... at least I think I do....wait, I can't remember! I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of Dakota. I know you're like me in that they are like family members. I have no kids which makes them my kids basically. I hope your new pup fairs better than you expect. Actually Ava is nowhere near as aggressive as a typical Akita. I think it helps she is a female vs. a male. The only time I saw her act like she was going to bite someone was when my nephew's boy, that is a toddler, decided he wanted to check out the peanut butter in her Kong while she was eating it. But I don't believe she was going to bite him. I believe it was just warning as this dog really, really, really, likes peanut butter! I can however take food away from here anytime I want with no growling or anything. Otherwise I've never seen any aggressiveness or dominance behavior from this dog. She lets me trim her nails, and I can move her on the bed if I need to, unlike my other dog that would growl if you tried to move her on the bed. You can do just about anything you want with her. She did bark incessantly at my customers, but I'm training her to sit on the stairway landing and stay, and then she shuts up. Eventually I tell her O.K., and she comes over and sniffs the customer and that is it. Also once she meets someone once, she won't bark at them when they come again. She has a an incredible memory and has a nose any drug sniffing dog would envy. She's a great guard dog, and sleeps downstairs near the door part of the night and then hops into our bed sometime during the night. Here's some pics of my old girl when she was still alive. Here's a better pic of my new one. The wife beater t-shirt is so she would leave her spaying stitch alone (this was just after I got her and one of the requirements was to have her spayed.) I think you can see she has an absolutely adorable face!

I'll have to get a picture of my pack. We have a chichuaua named Munch, pomerian named Mickey, two pugs named Puca and Fawn, two beabulls(beagle x bulldog) named Duke and Dutchie, St. berdoodle (St.Bernard x Poodle) named Griz Jack Russell Terrier named Gunter a mutt named Apache a lab/ weimaraner mix named Cholie a lab/ dachshund mix named Wienie
I try not to take the last one out in public case she gets lost. I don't think it would go over good walking up to someone and saying "Excuse me, have you seen my Wienie?"
We tried to name her something else. She was a stray dog we took in and that was the only name she would respond to.

Cecil I remember you beautiful Collie pup from the taxi.net. She and Dakota are playing and patiently waiting for us Ava will turn out just fine with proper training I'm sure. Something that I've recently been working with one of my pups is not only giving the command that I want him to do, but picturing in my mind what I want also. There's a theory out there that seeing as dogs have many times more powerful senses in other ways, maybe their thought processes are as well and they 'think' in pictures rather than words. Call me crazy but I've seen it in action more than once and my friend that has had sled dogs for 40+ years has been using it a LONG time. This is my Willow, the one with the enlarged heart: A collage I did of Dakota shortly after he passed: Mamadog, Lokie: Big dog, Nanook... about 120lbs... Topaz... Walker... Kuma, our big fluffy, goofy girl... Yukon, my soul puppy... All the above are related, Lokie the mom, Dakota the dad, the rest pups of theirs. These two are my Alaskan Huskies, Isis on the left, Norman on the right, he ran an Iditarod

Wolfwoman,
Awesome pictures! Beautiful dogs!
A few weeks after my dog died I was still really down. I took a nap and just before I woke up she was in the dream standing on my deck barking at me as if to say, "I'm fine don't worry about me!" For a while there I would swear I heard her bark!
I'll try the thought thing with the training. Hey maybe that's Ceasar Milan's secret? ;D
My last dog could sense when I was frustrated and angry in the shop even if I didn't say anything. She would come in as if to comfort me or think I was angry with her.
