I am trying to redo a botched large mouth bass mount. The previous taxidermist was in his training stage and ordered the wrong form I suppose. The 8lb largemouth looked like a 4 lb. He then used something like bondo or appoxie clay and made a proper belly but put put no scaleing detail in it. The fellow wants me to see about doing something to make it look better. I have had some basic taxidermy training and am pretty capable with an airbrush. I started trying to etch some scale markings in a thin coat of appoxie But as you can imagine, it looks like etched in scales. I was just wondering if anyone has faced this problem before. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
P.s. This repair would have to be the length of the fish and fro about 2/3 down from the back. So basically a little below the lateral line down.
