Here is one of my deer i finished about 5 years ago, it took a 3rd in the Oklahoma Convention and a 2nd in the LA convention, I just can not seem to get that first in deer, but I am gonna keep trying, learn something new each time I go.

2nd place due to nose not having interior completed, septum not in, and said sewing in back could be felt, not seen but felt so that cost me, only scored 89, but I was happy enough, judge sat down with me and went over everything and gave me some pointers, now I have just got to sit down and put it all together and come up with a first in deer. Got firsts in ducks, and fish, now need deer and small mammal firsts.

jw, a little trick for that seam is take your dremel or whatever and put a groove in the mannikin the length of your seam, before you sew it up put some clay in the groove and after your all sewn up take a light hammer and tap that seam down into the groove the clay should help smooth it all out so the seam isnt felt. and no I havent competed with a deer yet but i do that to all my shoulder mounts got that tip from a national champ though, hope it helps, Derek

I got the same tip a while back also, only it was after I mounted this deer, Now if I do a deer for competition there is no seam in it, I skin it out without cutting at all, its a lot more hassle but its worth it if you want to do competition because of no sewing. Thanks for leaving that tip though I am sure someone else will need it. A couple other things also with that tip for competition is to place your stitches close together and not pull too tight, which is most of my problem, I like it tight.
