Isn't it funny how you start to look at mounts differently then you did before you started taxidermy. I know I use to look at mount and think wow thats nice, but when I started doing it I really could appreciate the work that is done. Even when I look at pics of animals I do it. I used to look at it as a whole, but know I go straight to the details first (you know the eyes, mouth, nose, placement of the ears, and so on.) then I look at it in a whole, or maybe I'm just weird.

I know what you mean...b4 I started taxidermy I thought every mount I saw looked perfect, now when I go back to see the same ones, I can see their flaws. Same thing with my very first deer mount, which 3 years ago I thought looked good, now i realize it needed a lot of work. lol

I relate to what all of you are saying. Before I started taxidermy, I killed things, cleaned them, ate them. Now when I am hunting I look at animals to see how the stand, what color they are, how the fly, walk. I try see everything about them to help me improve. Then when the right one comes along, I shoot it, clean it, and eat it and put it on the wall.
