At my state's convention last year, I bought an Eppley nose cast. It had good detail...I painted it according to the colors seen in my reference photos, and used it with a mount later. I liked the nose itself, but I had a lot of trouble hiding the transition between the actual nose skin and the cast.

I use them, I have a couple of drills that I modified and I completely ream the nose and air way (nasal passage) out . Once you paint the inside of the nose you just see a hint of the septum's, but a nice selling point for your mount is showing the way a flash light will pass through the septum and then you can see the veins in it. I think it also makes it easier to form the inside of the nose you don't have to worry about your depth.

I wouldn't waste money on a Dan-D-Noser. I never used one before but from everything I've heard, it seems that thing is just a gimmick. Yeah it will save you time but I don't think the results they give look great. Much better to take your time and use Mod Podge and an artists brush to add induvidual noddules on the nose pad.

Dan-D-Noser s a waste of time, it covers up natural hair patterns and just flat looks fake, the pattern is too perfect. Septums are fine if you are doing a competition mount but really does not matter on a commercial mount because how many customers are going to look inside a deer nose anyway. You do need to know how to do them right so that when you do go int competition you can complete allthe inner nose detail.

I have to agree with the Dan-D-Noser, but I leaned a way to reconstruct the modules on the nose with Elmer's glue. I always use the septum's, around hear I have the customers looking at how their mounts look. When my competitors are getting $350 for their mounts and I get $425 they want to know why. Going that extra step, spending an extra 10 minutes is worth $75
