dry preservative or tanning...on my last mount i used dp,so far no difference

I tan my deer now, used DP for several years, still have deer mounted 15 years ago that look as good as the day they were mounted, still use DP on lifesize animals like coyote, fox, bobcat, etc. I have seen some mounts Sam Touchstone did 60 years ago that the hide is still perfect and he always used DP>

Lol thers the exact thread on taxi.net I figure personal prefrence. its not the paintbrush its the artist (unless you have magic brushes : )

I used DP only a short time ten I tried tanning and it was good so I stick with that from then on

Louis and Clark made mounts that were a lot older and still like OK but what do you expect for being over 200 years old and not having tans yet

I also think it all depends on the taxidermist. I have seen a mount someone did with dp and it looks terrible, and then I go to someone elses house and there is one that is 12 years old and looks like new. If you do it right Dp is great. I think this one of those questions with no right answer. It's just what ever works for you.
