I recently bought this blacktail set and I already have a cape for it. They were cut for shipping so I need ideas on how to put them back together so they are strong. I would have just "bondoed" them back together but the skull plate is also cut thin if you can see what I mean. Any help will be appreciated. Bear with me on the pics, they are from my phone.   |

Hey Nina. I would try to drill holes on each side of split and wire it together. Then take some bondo and reinforce the skull plate. Either that or Van Dyke's sells skull plates used for sheds. Just cut the antlers off and remount them to the fake skull plate.

I thought I made a post on this I must have hit the wrong button I'll try again.
Take a piece of tin (metal strap) 1/2in. by 3 or 4 inches (cut to a size you need) pre drill the strap and skull plate and attach to the underside of the skull plate using dry wall screws. Bondo everything together to strengthen. If you can put 4 screws in you would be better off if not 2 will have to do.

Nina, I run into that alot out here in blacktail country. Line up the skull cap and drill holes on both halves across fron each other,Cut some short pieces of wire and bend in u shape, Insert in holes and twist tag ends together.Take a couple of dowls or heavy guage wire and use them to go from tine to tine for spacing. wrap with electrical tape to hold in place.Mix up Magic skulpt and put on skull cap smooting it out. Here is some pics of a red stag I just put back together.  |
