Do any of you do novelty mounts to sell during your slow times, I have been doing a few deer foot gun racks and deer foot thermometers and such, which are real easy to do and people are going crazy about them around here, I sell everything i can make.

i sell alot of novelty items on eBay... squirrel shoulder and rump mounts, also gun racks made of squirrels( just like a deer, but w/ squirrel head and feet). the occassional swamp booger and jack-a-lope. once in a while i will do up a dinosaur from Rineharts, they usually bid up nice and high. Basically anything i can think of. Last year at this time I did pretty well on eBay with taking spare parts..lol from animals and putting them together to make monsters for halloween.

I am going to try selling mounts on ebay as soon as I have my taxi license. As of now it would be illegal for me to sell anything. But there's too many mounts in my house now. They've gotta go...

Hi James, I try to always have something in the works. I did a craft show last year just before Christmas and just about sold out, we did beater than $2,000 in 8 hours. The wife makes wreaths & ear rings out of pheasants. I always have birds I have collected through hunting season for full mounts. And we have the infamous Deer Rump Beer Tapper (shown in the for sale column). If you would like to see photos of any thing for ideas let me know. You can never have tunnel vision in this trade. If you need components for the Deer But Tapper, I also have them on hand.

riverrat, can you please post pics of the pheasant wreaths and earrings? I bet those would sell like crazy at our fall festival, if only I could get some pheasants before October.
I have tried selling artwork at craft shows (like painted deer hides and painted slate, and framed paintings/drawings) but nobody really appreciates good art and refuses to buy it because of the prices I charge.
I have made lots of money on face painting for kids though at the festivals. Over $275 one time. The other times weren't that great because the weather wasn't good and not too many people came.

Did my first deer antler (axis deer) chandelier last year for my granddaughters birthday, looked really great, now I have got 3 of her classmates families wanting them dome for them, 2 with whitetail and one with elk antlers, they are really easy to make and you can surely make a lot of money on each.

i once took a boar skull, made some over sized fangs. The nite lite eyes (can't remember which supplier i got them from) fake blood and a few other touches, and BAM, a scarry halloween monster..lol. Also, psycho squirrels. I just mount there like any other squirrel, but make them a little rabid and crazy looking. The boar skull brought 275.00 plus 25.00 for shipping.
