here is something useful...... don't ask if you can't take it, learn to spell, and some good sentence structure would be nice from time to time.

Weasel, I am not going to critque your mount because I think you allready know pretty much what is wrong and what is right with it, But like it has been said just slow down a little, I know when you are young you sometimes are impatient, but slow down, use reference material, and plan your work a little better and you will get much better results. And it does seem that you take a little too much offense to criticism, listen to criticism and learn from it or either dont ask for a critique because you will certainly get it and not allways good. And for Gods sake please do not turn into another Michael Rassmussen.

I said I'd slow down this whole thread was just to see if thawing in warm water would harm the specimen , and I printed refrence out in section of pretty close up.I feel it was a little unplanned I'll work on that part next time.

Sorry if I was snappy----Also eastarttaxi whats your problem with me because you misunderstood a post and posted a page and a half to try to make me feel bad or something which was random and was posted on taxi.net I fixed the post where it was more understandable , but obviously everyone got the just of it except you .Then others posted about your comments makeing you feel stupid or something. So you hunt after me critisizeing at every turn. Is that it? I may have been snappy or quik to react at jwj and maybe riverrat but you are out of line.
And your posting on grammer when you can't learn to press shift ,and you use double negatives in sentences. This is supposed to be a friendly forum where people come to dicuss and ask questions not be angered especially not on thier birthday.

i also got your point, once you cleared it up...that is why i deleted my post over there. i was trying to make you realize that you were starting to sound like michael rasmussen. if you haven't heard of him, search for his name over on taxi.net and you will see what myself and i believe jwj (can't personally speak for him though) was trying to say. i am not picking on you, but sometimes you make it sound as if you are a 30 year veteran at taxidermy.

Not what I'm trying to sound like thats why I've posted so many stupid questions they gotta be asked sometime.Although I may not mount very well yet I do know how animals should look thats why I try to critique sometimes. I also have had a few years of skinning from squirrel-Antelope.

riverrat and eastart, i appreciate your understanding what i was trying to say. i might have come off a little harsh but was just trying to get a point across. anyway, I'll save my critiques and advice for people who really want them and can handle some criticism. believe me I was a heartbroke frog when they tore up my fish mount at the competition, i thought it looked great. but they were right, i couldnt find one point i could legitamately argue. point is if they hadn't corrected me i would still be making the same mistakes today. oh well live and learn i guess. thanks again Derek

i was ripped a new one in my first competition..... i thought it was good, but i swallowed my pride, took their criticism, corrected the issues, and now, luckily, have a hell of a business.

I do not suggest that anyone entering their first couple of taxidermy events should enter expecting to win anything. To me these are learning experiences, and be ready for a big a-- whopping, guaranteed they are not going to hold any punches. I always encourage people to enter early and often, it is one of the best ways to find out what you are doing wrong or what bad habits you may have picked up. Weasel in your case I would not enter anything, they would not stand for your whining, we all need to learn from our mistakes.
